Take Your Pup to an MLB Game

We recently had the chance to take our pups to a Marlins game during their Bark in the Park night, and let me tell you—it was a total home run! If you haven’t heard of Bark in the Park, it’s a special event hosted by many MLB stadiums where dog lovers can bring their furry friends along for a game. With more people wanting to include their dogs in everyday activities, it’s no surprise these events have become a big hit.

The Marlins had an entire section set up just for us, complete with a cozy space for each dog and their human. We each had our own seats with plenty of room for the pups to stretch out and enjoy the game. The designated Bark in the Park section had vendors offering samples of everything from gourmet dog treats to bone broth. There were even local shelters on-site, introducing some adorable adoptable pups to the crowd—talk about a feel-good moment! They also had a shaded patch of turf set up with doggie bags so pups could do their business in convenient spot.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a true ballpark experience without some classic ballpark food. Each of our dogs got to enjoy their very own hot dog (plain, of course), because you can’t go to a baseball game without indulging a little, right? Maverick and Titan were all in for this treat, savoring every bite like true foodies. The staff was so lovely toward all the pups and even made sure to give them lots of pets.

Unfortunately, Blue couldn’t join us for this outing. The event rules only allowed one dog per person, and even if we could’ve brought him along, Blue’s anxiety around large crowds would have made it tough. We try to avoid putting him in overly stressful situations whenever possible, so he stayed back at home in his favorite comfort spot (his backpack) while we enjoyed the game. It’s always about keeping their happiness and well-being as the top priority.

The day was a total win for us, and we’ll definitely be back next time! If you’re thinking about bringing your dog to a game, here are a few tips to make sure it’s a paw-some experience for everyone:

Tips for Bringing Your Dog to a Baseball Game

  1. Check the Rules and Regulations: Make sure to check the stadium’s specific rules for Bark in the Park events, including dog limits and vaccination requirements.

  2. Bring the Essentials: Pack a doggy bag with water, a collapsible bowl, a leash, waste bags, and a blanket or towel for them to sit on.

  3. Know Your Dog’s Limits: If your dog is anxious around loud noises or big crowds, consider skipping the game or finding a quieter seating area.

  4. Be Prepared for Breaks: Baseball games can be long, so make sure your pup gets bathroom breaks and stretches their legs when needed.

  5. Keep It Cool: Check the weather beforehand and bring something to keep your dog cool if it’s a hot day. Baseball stadiums can get warm, especially in the middle of summer.

  6. Watch Their Diet: It’s tempting to share snacks, but be mindful of what’s safe for dogs. Stick to plain treats, like an unseasoned hot dog or bring your own dog-safe snacks.

Taking your dog to a ballgame can be an amazing way to bond and create unforgettable memories. Just be sure to plan ahead, keep their comfort in mind, and you’ll be cheering for both the team and your pup’s big day out! 🐾⚾
